Safe Practices

I pride myself on being strict about health and safety in the tattoo world. This means appropriate cleaning, disinfection and sterilization techniques as well as other safe practices:

  • All needles are sterile and used only once.
  • Sterile items are opened from their sterile packages, in front of the client.
  • Autoclave sterilization is used as well as routine spore testing.
  • Protective coverings and single use items are replaced after each client. (needles, gloves, ink, ink caps, paper and plastic coverings, etc...)
  • After each client, the entire work area is cleaned and disinfected, as defined by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Association).
  • In addition, all clients are given written aftercare instructions.
Current Health and Safety Certificates:

I have currently recieved training and earned certificates in Blood-borne Pathogens (BBP), First Aid and CPR.

Rules:

  • All clients must provide photo ID and sign a release form.
  • Cash only. Upfront. No exceptions!
  • No one under 18.
  • No one who's been drinking or under the influence of drugs.
  • No gang symbols or racist tattoos.
  • No genitals, face, fingers or toes.
  • No Food in the tattooing area
  • No Children.

You can take part in making your tattoo experience better for both you and your artist by:

  • Having a good idea of what you want before you make an appointment.
  • Not drinking or using drugs at least 24 hours prior to getting tattooed.
  • Getting a good night sleep.
  • Not taking any painkillers beforehand. This may cause excessive bleeding.
  • Eating a full meal beforehand to avoid low blood sugar.
  • Wear or bring appropriate clothing for the area being tattooed. Also, bring something that you don't mind if it gets ruined.
  • Be showered and wear deodorant. you'll be in close quarters.
  • Limit your guests to 1 or 2 people max and never bring children.
  • If it helps to relax or distract you, bring a book or an Ipod.
  • Show up on time.
  • If you feel faint or clammy as the tattoo begins, speak up so your artist can help you. If you need a break, just ask. If you need to cough, sneeze, etc.. say something.
  • Expect friendliness and professionalism.
  • Lastly, expect to follow your written aftercare instructions very carefully.

Tattoo Aftercare:

Proper care of your tattoo is your responsibility. Proper aftercare will effect the long-term quality of your tattoo.

  • Leave bandage on for 2 to 4 hours.
  • Then wash tattoo with mild soap, being certian to remove any ointment or blood.
  • Pat dry with towel, and let tattoo air dry for 10 minutes.
  • Apply a very thin layer of A&D Ointment (rub it in like a lotion).
  • Do not re-bandage the tattoo.
  • If there is any pain, redness or swelling, you may take Advil.
  • Wash your new tattoo and apply the A&D 3 to 4 times a day for the first 3 days.
  • Your tattoo will peel in 4 to 5 days. When this happens, stop using the ointment and switch to a good, unscented lotion like Lubriderm or Curel.
  • Do not pick or scratch at the tattoo.
  • No soaking the tattoo, swimming or sun until fully healed.
  • Always use sunscreen with the highest SPF possible.
The healing of your tattoo depends on how well you take care of it.
